Our family is all about squares and bars for events.
They are generally very easy to make and you can decide how big you want to make them depending on the situation. The only tricky part? Finding new recipes to keep things interesting.
I stumbled across this one on Pinterest.
These were called "Man Bars" by South Your Mouth and I knew immediately I had to try them.
I just loooooove graham crumbs in baking and this bar is pretty much aaaaall graham-y.
Plus pecans and chocolate so.....really...... what's not to love?
Ooey Gooey Graham Squares
(Slightly adapted from South Your Mouth)
Ingredients
4 cups graham cracker crumbs (about 2 boxes)
1 bag chocolate chips (about 2 cups)
1 cup chopped pecans
2 cans condensed milk (28 oz total)
1 tsp vanilla
pinch salt
For decorating
~1 cup icing sugar
Directions
Preheat oven to 350. Line a 9 X 13 pan with parchment paper, set aside.
In a large bowl stir together all ingredients - except the icing sugar. Press into the 9 X 13 pan.
Bake at 350 until top is golden brown and bar is set - about 30 minutes.
Let cool on wire rack to room temperature. Use the parchment paper to lift the bar from the pan. Cut into smallish squares - about 1 inch.
Roll each square in the icing sugar to coat. (Alternatively, you can simply sprinkle some on top)
These look so interesting mixed in with other squares.
And the texture of these is AMAZING!!! Seriously. Kind of gooey, kind of dense but over all perfection.
FYI - You will definitely want to cut these in small squares as they are quite sweet.
