I was looking online for some interesting and fun ideas for bake sales. Of course I ended up on Pinterest where I came across these super cute and very tasty apples.
I believe I got this idea from Event Trender.
These looked so cute and definitely offer a unique choice at bake sales. Something a little different than cookies and cupcakes.
Is it healthier?
Ummm....not so much. I mean, if you only eat the apple - sure. Otherwise, not so much.
Apple with Caramel Cream Cheese Dip
Ingredients
1 pkg (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
10 pkgs (2 oz each) caramel dip
2 (39 gr each) Skor bars
8 apples
8 (1/2 cup each) mason jars
Directions
Mix cream cheese with 2 of the caramel dips (4 oz). Mix until smooth.
Divide evenly amongst 8 jars. Wipe rim.
Spoon 1 each of the remaining 8 caramel dips into each jar.
Crush up both Skor bars.
Sprinkle Skor crumbs evenly amongst the 8 jars.
Place lid on jars.
Top each jar with an apple.
Wrap in cellophane and tie with ribbon. Keep refrigerated until ready to give away.
I think these would also make great gifts for teachers, fun party favors to take home after birthday parties, or even a cute gift to bring if you are dropping by to visit a friend.
These only take a few minutes to put together and look like they took much longer to do.
By the way, they sold really well at the bake sale!

DeleteThis would be a great Idea as a shower favor, for a fall shower.
ReplyDeleteGreat idea!
Deletewould be a great wedding Favors
DeleteDo these have to be refrigerated?
ReplyDeleteIf you are not going to be eating them right away, I would store them in the fridge for sure.
DeleteI'm not familiar with caramel dip packages. Where do you find them? Brand name? This is an adorable idea!
ReplyDeleteThey were the Lighthouse brand caramel dip. I found them at our local Buy-Low grocery store. If you can't find the individual dips then you can buy a large jar. You would need 2 1/2 cups of caramel sauce in total. Hope that helps!
DeleteHow much did uou charge at the bake sale?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh..I can't help you out with this. We gave them to the people holding the bake sale and they marked them.... I don't know how much they charged. :( sorry!
DeleteThank you for sharing our Apple & Dip Favor Idea on your site! Our followers just love it! ~ Angela @EventTrender.com
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing such a fabulous idea!!
DeleteWhere did you get the cute ribbon? I love it.
ReplyDeleteWe got it at a Michael's craft store :)
DeleteWhere did you get the jars?
ReplyDeleteFrom the local grocery store. I have seen them at Walmart and Michaels and, I believe, Superstore at different times.
DeleteHow long will the carmel last? I'm thinking I want to send it in the mail to my son who is about 3 days away through mail. Thanks
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately I don't think the cream cheese would last that long safely. The caramel would probably be okay but I wouldn't risk it with cream cheese....
DeleteI poured half of the caramel sauce from WM that lasted forever and topped with toffee bits and closed it up with an apple on top.
DeleteWhere do u find the ore package Carmel dip?
ReplyDeleteWe used Lighthouse brand caramel dip. I found them at our local Buy-Low grocery store. If you can't find the individual dips then you can buy a large jar. You would need 2 1/2 cups of caramel sauce in total. I would think you could find it wherever they sell ice cream topping. Hope that helps!
DeleteThanks Jo and Sue...I was going to ask the same thing. Great to know that we can use caramel sauce!
Deletecan you use the caramel ice cream dip that is in a jar.
DeleteIf kept in the fridge, how long would they last?
ReplyDeleteI am going to use this idea to give to my co-workers for a christmas gift. I LOVE IT! Thank you for sharing
ReplyDeleteHow much did they sell for?
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh..I can't help you out with this. We gave them to the people holding the bake sale and they marked them.... I don't know how much they charged. :( sorry!
DeleteWhen you give as a gift how long do they last? What time frame should they be eaten in?
ReplyDeleteIn the fridge I would think they would last a few days. It would depend on the expiry date of your cream cheese...and how ripe the apple was.
DeleteMy mom makes Carmel dip like this except she mixes 1 cream cheese with one cup of brown sugar. It helps to mix it and let it sit so the sugar has a chance to really soak into the cream cheese! So yummy!
ReplyDeletehow long do you microwave in order to serve?
ReplyDeleteYou don't microwave it....you serve it cold/room temp. :)
DeleteWhat a great idea. Thank you for sharing. Every year my 5 sisters and I have a "sister weekend" and always give each other something little. This is the perfect thing to make! Thank you!
ReplyDeleteTHIS DIP SOUNDS GOOD MIGHT JUST MAKE IT AND GIVE IT OUT TO SOME PEOPLE FRIENDS AND FAMILY
ReplyDeleteWhat size jars are these?
ReplyDeleteThey are 1/2 cup jars.
DeleteThis is insane, I love this idea! I was trying to find something to give to my guest after our Thanksgiving Day dinner and this would be PERFECT! Thank you for posting this.
ReplyDeleteYou can as well use individual wrapped caramels to melt for this recipe. Just add a touch of butter when melting on low heat and a few at a time.
ReplyDeleteWhat kind of apples did you use? Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI am pretty sure they were Granny Smoth Apples.
DeleteOoops...Granny Smith!
DeleteAWESOME!!! Thank you for sharing such a great idea. You rock!!!
ReplyDeleteToo cute!!!! and looks delicious!
ReplyDeleteI'm an office manager, and I wanted to leave these on the desks of our employees at work as an October surprise. I go in the evening before, when no one is there. So I worry about the cream cheese. I have the jars and the apples. I think I'll buy wrapped caramels and fill the jars with them, put the apple on top, etc. The idea will be the same, and they can melt their own caramels! It'll still look adorable and would be a unique little gift. What do you think?
ReplyDeleteI think that is a lovely idea! I'm sure your employees will love it :)
DeleteJust bought some Honey Crisps so had to try the dip...it WAS wonderful! I think this will make wonderful little gifts.
ReplyDeleteLove these! I am making a ton for our first annual friends and family harvest party! I was wondering though in the picture it looks like theres a layer of carmel then the cream cheese mix then the Carmel and candy bar. Is that correct or is the picture deceiving? So excited to make these!
ReplyDeleteThe picture is deceiving you! :) I photographed the step-by-step as I did it above. I put the caramel/cream cheese mixture on the bottom and then a layer of caramel on top, and then the candy bar. (I think it is just a shadow you are seeing on the bottom.) Good luck with your party - I hope the apples & dip are a hit! :)
DeleteI see it too....it does look like caramel on the bottom!
DeleteDo you have your own web site? I would love to follow so many amaing ideas.
ReplyDeleteYou can also make carmel dip with peanut butter so you dont have to refridgerate... especially for mailing or caramel dip that you find in the produce section of your markets.
ReplyDeleteWould it work with red apples or would you stick with the green? I'm doing my daughter's birthday party in Twilight so this would be a cute decoration/party favor. Also, is that candy bar easy to find(I've never heard of it.lol)?
ReplyDeleteRed apples would work BUT I would probably stick with green just because the more tart apples seem to go with the sweet dip better.
DeleteAlso....if you can't find Skor bars to crush...you could use Health bars or any hard caramel coated in chocolate type bars.
DeleteOh my gosh....not Health bars HEATH bars....geez...lol
DeleteAlso, you can top caramel with toffee bits found by the choc. chips
DeleteI found this on the homestead survival blog. What a cool idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm going to make these and bring it to my husband's Marine Corps Christmas party for his recruiting station this year! I can't wait. Thank you for the idea.
ReplyDeletethank you for sharing, I wanted to do a caramel apple for an upcoming bake sale, and this looks so much easier and less time comsuming.
ReplyDeleteLove this idea, I'm always looking for new things to give out and this one is perfect. Thanks for sharing with everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis recipe is delicious and looks just as pretty as the picture when wrapped up for a gift. For those who are concerned about the caramel sauce to cream cheese ratio: I used 1/2 of an 11 oz. jar per 8 oz. cream cheese BUT your best bet is to taste as you mix; add enough caramel sauce so it tastes good to you! Works well with any crisp eating apple. Thanks for sharing this wonderful recipe/gift idea!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the fantastic idea! I hope you don't mind, I shared a link and photo on my blog (crediting you of course)!
ReplyDeleteThank you :)
Deleteyum
ReplyDeleteGreat neighbor gift idea. You could even add an apple slicer/corer for the apple to sit on.
ReplyDeleteDO these need to be refrigerated? I assume so since cream cheese does...
ReplyDeleteYes. They need to be refrigerated :)
DeleteHow do you get the caramel on the apple? is it a cut the apple dip thing or scoop it all out heat it in pot? Thanks
ReplyDeleteYou cut the apple and dip it into the jar to scoop out the dip :)
DeleteLooks awesome! And love the idea! Where did u find the mini canning jars?
ReplyDeleteThank you :) We found them in the canning aisle in our local grocery store. I have seen them at Michael's as well. Hope that helps!
DeleteIf I make my own caramel, do I use the same oz ratio? Thanks for your help!
ReplyDeleteThat should work just fine :)
DeleteThis is absolutely delicious! I received it as a teachers gift and couldn't believe how great it was! In return, I made a similar batch for my son's teacher but substituted caramel sauce (usually used for ice cream) to make it easier. Still delicious!
ReplyDeleteWhat size cellophane bags did you use? These look like perfect little individual gifts!
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure of the size. Sorry about that. They were pretty much the same size as the clear cookie bags you can buy from the dollar store/Michaels - if that helps??
DeleteIf you keep them refrigerated isn't the Caramel all hard when you try and dip into it? Is there a certain time to set out before enjoying?
ReplyDeleteNo. The caramel dip we use is a soft dip. It doesn't harden. (Almost like an ice cream topping)
