Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Spiders

This recipe worked perfectly for the little spiders that decorated our Halloween dessert table.
Of course, you don't have to make spiders out of this.
You don't even have to make individual cheese balls out of it. You can make a giant cheese ball and serve it with graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, etc...
If you choose to make it as one large cheese ball then you can also roll it in chopped nuts instead of Oreo crumbs.
But, if you choose to make little spiders then you can follow these instructions!

Chocolate Chip Cheese Ball Spiders

Ingredients
1 (8 oz) pkg cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup butter, softened

Using a small cookie scoop, or simply pinch off a ping pong sized ball, roll into balls and place on cookie sheet lined with plastic wrap.

Roll each ball in the cookie crumbs.

Before proceeding to the next step you will want to chill the balls for about an hour or so just to firm them up again.
After they are chilled - Cut 8 equal sized pieces of licorice for the spiders legs for each ball. Cut one mini marshmallow in half and press a mini chocolate chip into each half. These will be the eyes. Use a little bit of chocolate frosting to get the eyes to stick to the spider's body.

It's just that simple.
You will want to keep these refrigerated until just before serving.
Aren't they adorable?
And...they are soooooo tasty. Like little bites of chocolate chip cheesecake.
When you get sick of cutting legs out of licorice then you can do what I did...

Just put some eyeballs on some and some candy bones on others and Voila! spooky cheese ball platter.
Trust me...after a million little spider legs you will be looking for an alternative.
Just sayin'
